Relatively safe and efficient, the Bucharest public transport system covers the entire city with buses, trams, trolley buses and subway, running between 5:00 and 23:15. For buses, trams, trolley buses, tickets can be bought from the RATB kiosks, situated in the important stations in the city. There are different types of tickets, like: one way ticket (price 1,3 RON), one day ticket (price 8 RON), one week ticket (price 17 RON) and 15 days ticket (price 25 RON).
The used ticket must be kept until the end of the ride and shown to a ticket inspector on request. In buses, please consider dating your ticket right after you get on.
The subway uses magnetic cards, which can be bought from the subway kiosks placed at every subway entrance. You can buy a card for 2 rides for 5 RON, or for 10 rides for 20 RON, or a one day ticket for 8 ON.
Bucharest has many taxi companies. Now, all authorized taxi companies have yellow cars, with a license number on the door. The cost for cars ordered by phone is approx. 1.4 RON/km.
