Description

Andrew Cheetham is the Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Jazz Studies at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, USA. As a classical and jazz trumpeter, Andrew has performed in and led various ensembles across the United States and in Europe, and in recent years has performed with members of the Count Basie Orchestra including Doug Henderson, Mike Williams and Butch Miles, as well as with Joel Frahm, Conrad Herwig, Roger Ingram, James Morrison, Rufus Reid, Bobby Shew, Marvin Stamm and Allen Vizzutti. A native of Columbia, Missouri, Andrew holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Texas and a Doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. Andrew has taught applied trumpet, jazz studies and various academic courses at Eastern Illinois University, Oklahoma State University, Nazareth College and in the Austin, TX public schools. Andrew also served as a musician in the United States Army, where he received two Army Achievement medals and an Army Commendation medal for his contributions. Andrew is a an artist/clinician for the Edwards Instrument Company in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
