Description

At twenty-two years of age, Malaysian-born pianist Rosalind Phang has already spent more than half her life living in Europe. She began playing the piano at the age of 5 in Malaysia, and in a short span of three years, gave her first debut recital overseas in Jakarta, Indonesia. At 10 years of age, she was invited to study at the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in London with a full scholarship. There she studied with Prof. Ruth Nye, a former student of the great pianist Claudio Arrau, for eight years. During this time, she was given many opportunities to perform around England and Scotland, in famous venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, St. James’ Church Picadilly, and the Royal Overseas League. In October 2013, she began her Bachelor of Music studies at the Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien Hannover with Prof. Bernd Goetzke. Since then she has been awarded the first prize at the Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dinu Lipatti (2016) and was also a prizewinner at the Kawai S-Course Music Competition in Japan (2016). Rosalind is also a scholarship holder of the “Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Hannover e.V” since 2015.
